Carefree Unity extends its sincere appreciation to all eight candidates who participated in the Carefree Primary Election. By offering themselves for public office, each candidate demonstrated a commitment to serving the residents of Carefree and contributing to the future of our community.
The race for Mayor featured incumbent Mayor John Crane and former Town Council Member and Vice Mayor Melissa Price. Competing for the three open Town Council seats were Sheila Amaroso, Peter Gladkin, Les Hardie, George Nelson, Sharon P. Smith, and Ted Taylor. Each candidate devoted considerable time, effort, and expense presenting their qualifications, ideas, and vision for Carefree while recognizing the significant responsibilities that accompany public service.
We thank all eight candidates for their willingness to serve, their experience, their thoughtful perspectives, and their dedication to improving the quality of life in Carefree. Public service is one of the most meaningful ways individuals can give back to their community, and every candidate deserves our gratitude for stepping forward to serve.
While only four candidates will ultimately be elected, the conclusion of the Primary Election marks not an end, but the beginning of a new chapter for our town. Elections naturally produce differing viewpoints, yet the long-term success of Carefree depends on our ability to work together with mutual respect and a shared commitment to the community’s well-being.
As the election concludes, we encourage all residents, the successful candidates, those who were not elected, and the supporters of both, to unite behind the democratic process and support the Mayor and Town Council chosen by Carefree voters. Constructive engagement, thoughtful dialogue, and cooperation will accomplish far more than continued division. The question before all of us should be: How can we help our elected leaders make the best decisions for the future of Carefree?
Carefree Unity remains committed to researching the issues facing our community, presenting factual information, and encouraging informed civic participation. We invite all residents to consider the facts, stay engaged, and work together with our elected officials to make decisions that best serve the interests of Carefree and its residents.
