Council Member Colleen Rose-Scurti has sent Carefree Unity two of her recent flyers for publication. The first shows Carefree sales tax growth for the past nineteen years. From the depths of the last recession in 2011, sales tax growth increased a healthy 4% per year for the next ten years. The past four years have been breakout years for Carefree as sales tax increased at an annual rate of over 10%.
This flyer was researched and developed in response to a political flyer that claimed “(with John Crane as mayor) our town’s growth has stalled while our vital retail tax base shrinks.” In fact, all four of the Carefree-endorsed candidates, including Town Council candidates Sheila Amoroso, Les Hardie, and Sharon Smith, were in office for most or all of that time, and the facts show the Town thriving under their leadership:
