Carefree Unity

Dear Carefree residents, It has been my honor to have had the opportunity to serve on the Carefree Town Council for the last 10 years. As I think about the upcoming openings and the candidates who want to fill them, I believe that a number of the candidates stand out. I have worked with those I am recommending and believe that they have each demonstrated the characteristics that I have found will be meaningful for continued success.

I believe that we should definitely re-elect incumbent Council member, Sheila Amoroso. Sheila has a very strong municipal financial background and has used that knowledge to help us navigate increasing fire and police costs, and numerous infrastructure issues. Most of you probably already know Sheila, as she has been a constant at the post office most days over the last 4 years, talking with residents, sharing facts, gathering residents’ insights and listening to their concerns, and doing whatever she can to address them.

I would also highly recommend write-in candidate, Sharon Smith. Sharon is a front-row participant at every Council meeting. Sharon was one of the leaders in developing the compensation study, which was so helpful in evaluating Staff compensation. Sharon has also served unfailingly on the P&Z committee. Sharon was the dean of a notable business school for 15 years, and the president of a major university for 12 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge in both the public and private sectors. We are lucky to have her wanting to serve.

I also urge you to elect Les Hardie, an experienced attorney who has also been a member of P&Z and has studied all the issues that are important to both P&Z and the Town as a whole. His votes are always well-informed, grounded in reality, and reinforce the vision that has made Carefree an enjoyable home for all of us. Les has also worked on the Wings and Wheels charity event for Carefree, and this year, he was heavily involved in the fun family event, the Orphans and Odd Balls car show. Les has a great interest in Carefree, and it shows in his commitment.

These people will all be great stewards of our Town, and if they are elected, we can all feel secure in the knowledge that our Town is in good hands.

And, lastly, I urge us all to re-elect our Mayor, John Crane.  He has worked tirelessly on our behalf and has the knowledge and experience that his rival simply does not have.

Vice Mayor, Cheryl Kroyer
