Scottsdale Road Improvements Fingers crossed… completion is in sight

Use caution when traveling on Scottsdale Road; there is significant flooding in areas

Construction continues for improvements to Scottsdale Road from Jomax Road to Dixileta Drive. Planned improvements will convert this section of Scottsdale Road to a complete street to include landscaped medians, bike lanes, sidewalks and trails to improve safety, capacity and accessibility for motor vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians. The project includes installation of a signalized crossing at Pinnacle Vista Drive, and drainage improvements.

  • Scottsdale Rd traffic is currently shifted to the west side of Scottsdale Rd, one lane in each direction, from Dixileta Dr to Jomax Rd. Dynamite Blvd remains closed on the east side of Scottsdale Rd for crews to rebuild the east side of the Scottsdale Rd/Dynamite Blvd intersection. Left turns are permitted for southbound traffic at Dixileta Dr, and for north and south bound traffic at Jomax Rd. Detour signage is in place to direct travelers around the closure. In addition, Oberlin Way and Bent Tree Dr remain closed on the east side of Scottsdale Rd.
  • Scheduled to begin the week of Nov. 2, crews will install the left-in/left-out median islands in Scottsdale Rd, at Bobwhite Way and also at Pinnacle Vista Dr. Scheduled for Nov. 3 – 18, median island work at Bobwhite Way will require access to Desert Foothills Lutheran Church driveway across from Bobwhite Way to be “exit only”, and the south driveway to the church used as “enter only”. Signage will be in place to direct church members accordingly.
  • Scheduled for Nov. 2-4, crews will pave the base course (bottom layer) of asphalt on the east side of the Scottsdale Rd and Dynamite Blvd intersection.
  • Scheduled to take place Nov. 11-18, crews will conduct final paving on the east side of Scottsdale Rd, beginning at the north side of Jomax Rd and moving in a northerly direction through the Dixileta Dr intersection. Scheduled to take place on Nov. 16, paving will take place on the east side of Scottsdale Rd at the Dixileta Dr intersection, with the east side of the Dixileta Dr intersection CLOSED to accommodate this work. As the paving activity crosses other side streets not already closed on the east side of Scottsdale Rd, there will be brief restrictions as the paving activity takes place. Law enforcement will be on-site to assist in managing traffic and crews will work to the extent possible to expedite this activity.
  • Scheduled to take place overnight, the night of Wednesday, Nov. 18, traffic control will be adjusted to reopen the east side of Scottsdale Rd at Dynamite Blvd, Oberlin Way and Bent Tree Dr. Scottsdale Rd traffic will then be shifted to the east side of Scottsdale Rd, onto the new asphalt pavement, for final paving to take place on the west side of Scottsdale Rd.
  • Scheduled to take place Nov. 19-25, crews will conduct final paving on the west side of Scottsdale Rd, beginning at the Dixileta Dr intersection and moving in a southerly direction toward Jomax Rd. During this time, left turns will not be permitted for northbound access to Pinnacle Vista Dr or Bobwhite Way. Scheduled for Nov. 19, paving will take place on the west side of Scottsdale Rd at the Dixileta Dr intersection, with the west side of the Dixileta Dr intersection CLOSED to accommodate the work. As the paving activity moves south and crosses side streets on the west side of Scottsdale Rd, there will be brief restrictions as the paving activity takes place. Law enforcement will be on-site to assist in managing traffic and crews will work to the extent possible to expedite this activity.
  • Currently scheduled to take place just prior to Thanksgiving, Dynamite Blvd should be reopened on both sides of Scottsdale Rd to allow for east and westbound travel.
  • Scheduled to begin the week of Nov. 30, crews will adjust utilities along Scottsdale Rd to make them flush with the new asphalt surface, and prepare for striping of the roadway. In addition, crews will complete remaining landscaping and any punch list items. Lane reductions will need to continue; however, traffic will be on the correct sides of the median.
  • Project completion is scheduled for late December.

Scottsdale Road remains an active construction area and the speed limit remains at 30 mph through the construction zone. Traffic control is in place for your safety and the safety of construction crews. Please use an alternate route if one is available in order to help minimize traffic back-ups on Scottsdale Road. Work primarily takes place during daytime hours, weekdays; however, it may be necessary, at times, to conduct work during night hours or weekend days.
