Scottsdale Road Improvements – Jomax Road to Dixileta DriveConstruction continues for improvements to Scottsdale Road from Jomax Road to Dixileta Drive. Planned improvements will convert this section of Scottsdale Road to a complete street to include landscaped medians, bike lanes, sidewalks and trails to improve safety, capacity and accessibility for motor vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians. The project includes installation of a signalized crossing at Pinnacle Vista Drive, and drainage improvements. Based upon input from City Council, the roundabout planned for this location will instead be a traditional signalized intersection. Staff members and project team members are determining how to modify the project’s design to reflect this change and are identifying potential impacts. Crews are nearing completion on installation of storm drain work near Jomax Road and are scheduled to pave back that area, so traffic control and left turn restrictions at Jomax Road should be removed by the end of day, today. Scheduled to take place the week of March 17, crews will work at Dixileta Drive to prepare for installation of a temporary traffic signal so that drainage work can take place at the intersection. Also scheduled to take place the week of March 17, crews will conduct native plant salvage on the west side of Scottsdale Road, south of Dixileta Drive. This involves boxing and relocating trees to a contractor nursery where they can be maintained during construction, to be replanted in the project area as the project nears completion. Scheduled to take place March 24 through approximately April 1, crews will work to install storm drain pipe on the east side of Scottsdale Road near Bobwhite Way and diagonally across the Dixileta Drive intersection. To accommodate this work, Scottsdale Road traffic will be shifted to the west side of Scottsdale Road from Bobwhite Way to Dixileta Drive, one lane in each direction with no left turns permitted for north and south bound Scottsdale Road traffic at Dixileta Drive. Scheduled to begin approximately April 2 – 9, Scottsdale Road traffic will be shifted to the east side of Scottsdale Road, still one lane in each direction, with Dixileta Drive CLOSED on the west side of Scottsdale Road, for crews to continue installation of storm drain in this area. Detour signage will be in place to direct travelers around the closure, and left turns will not be permitted for north and south bound Scottsdale Road traffic at Dixileta Drive. Also scheduled to begin in early April, crews will conduct clearing of the west side of Scottsdale Road, from Dixileta Drive to just north of Dynamite, to prepare for upcoming work. During construction, lane reductions and turn restrictions may be in place, as needed, to shift traffic away from the work zone. Please obey traffic signage as it is placed for the safety of residents, travelers and construction crews. Traffic control remains in place 24/7 to protect the work zone, and speed limits are reduced near the work zone. Work primarily takes place during daytime hours, weekdays; however, it may be necessary, at times, to conduct work during night hours or weekend days. We’ll do our best to keep you updated during construction, but please remember that construction schedules may be impacted by a variety of factors, to include weather and resource scheduling.
