Scottsdale Road Improvements – Jomax Road to Dixileta Drive

Scheduled to take place April 2 – 9, Scottsdale Road traffic will be shifted to the east side of Scottsdale Road, still one lane in each direction

Construction continues for improvements to Scottsdale Road from Jomax Road to Dixileta Drive. Planned improvements will convert this section of Scottsdale Road to a complete street to include landscaped medians, bike lanes, sidewalks and trails to improve safety, capacity and accessibility for motor vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians. The project includes installation of a signalized crossing at Pinnacle Vista Drive, and drainage improvements.

  • The roundabout originally planned at the intersection of Scottsdale and Dynamite roads is being reviewed by staff – a traditional signalized intersection is also being considered. Staff and project team members are further evaluating these alternative intersection designs and are identifying potential impacts.
  • Crews are currently working to install storm drain pipe on the east side of Scottsdale Road near Bobwhite Way and diagonally across the Dixileta Drive intersection. To accommodate this work, Scottsdale Road traffic is shifted to the west side of Scottsdale Road from Bobwhite Way to Dixileta Drive, one lane in each direction with no left turns permitted for north and south bound Scottsdale Road traffic at Dixileta Drive.
  • Scheduled to take place April 2 – 9, Scottsdale Road traffic will be shifted to the east side of Scottsdale Road, still one lane in each direction, with Dixileta Drive CLOSED on the west side of Scottsdale Road, for crews to continue installation of storm drain in this area. Detour signage will be in place to direct travelers around the closure, and left turns will not be permitted for north and south bound Scottsdale Road traffic at Dixileta Drive.
  • Scheduled to begin April 2, crews will conduct clearing of the west side of Scottsdale Road, from just north of Dynamite to Dixileta Drive, to prepare for upcoming work. In addition, potholing will take place to determine the specific depth and location of underground utilities to minimize conflicts during storm drain installation.
  • Scheduled to begin April 7, crews will work on the southwest side of the Scottsdale Road and Dixileta Drive intersection to grade and prepare for rebar and concrete to extend the box culvert at that location.
  • Beginning April 1, work hours will shift to begin at 6 a.m. as crews across the city make this change, annually, April through October, due to increasing temperatures.

During construction, lane reductions and turn restrictions may be in place, as needed, to shift traffic away from the work zone. Please obey traffic signage as it is placed for the safety of residents, travelers and construction crews. Traffic control remains in place 24/7 to protect the work zone, and speed limits are reduced near the work zone. Work primarily takes place during daytime hours, weekdays; however, it may be necessary, at times, to conduct work during night hours or weekend days.

We’ll do our best to keep you updated during construction, but please remember that construction schedules may be impacted by a variety of factors, to include weather and resource scheduling.
