Scottsdale Road Improvements – Jomax Road to Dixileta Drive

Construction continues for improvements to Scottsdale Road from Jomax Road to Dixileta Drive. Planned improvements will convert this section of Scottsdale Road to a complete street to include landscaped medians, bike lanes, sidewalks and trails to improve safety, capacity and accessibility for motor vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians. The project includes installation of a signalized crossing at Pinnacle Vista Drive, and drainage improvements.

  • Scottsdale Road traffic is currently shifted to the east side of Scottsdale Road, one lane in each direction, with left turns restricted from just north of Mark Lane to just south of Dixileta Drive, and also from Jomax Road to Oberlin Way. There is currently no access to Dale Lane, Peak View Road, Morning Vista Lane, Redbird, and Pinnacle Vista on the west side of Scottsdale Road as asphalt has been removed from the west side of Scottsdale Road in these areas for storm drain installation and road reconstruction. Concrete barrier has been placed in the interest of safety as the new roadway will be significantly higher than the existing road.
  • Crews continue work on the west side of Scottsdale Road, behind the concrete barrier, to install storm drain pipe and construct concrete box culverts and headwalls as part of the drainage improvements.
  • Concrete crews are working to pour concrete for box culverts, and will soon be working to install sidewalk, and curb and gutter. With the increasing daytime temperatures, and the remote location from the concrete materials supplier, concrete pours will take place as early as 3 a.m., weekdays, throughout the summer months to provide the best quality end product.
  • Grading crews are currently working between Jomax and Oberlin to conduct grading, and scheduled for the week of May 12 will begin importing subsurface material in the area between Mark Lane and Dixileta Drive as part of the road reconstruction.
  • Landscape crews continue work, currently on the east side of Scottsdale Road to conduct tree salvage, boxing and relocating identified trees to the contractor’s nursery to be maintained until they can be replanted in the project area later in the project. Scheduled for the week of May 19, crews will install irrigation sleeves on the west side of Scottsdale Road to prepare for replanting of landscape.
  • Primary work is taking place weekdays beginning at 6 a.m. due to increasing temperatures.

During construction, lane reductions and turn restrictions may be in place, as needed, to shift traffic away from the work zone. Please obey traffic signage as it is placed for the safety of residents, travelers and construction crews. Traffic control remains in place 24/7 to protect the work zone, and speed limits are reduced near the work zone. Work primarily takes place during daytime hours, weekdays; however, it may be necessary, at times, to conduct work during night hours or weekend days.
